Members of the Circle of Friends of Cameroon (CERAC) decided to keep fit to commence activities marking the 20th anniversary of their association. Last Saturday December 12, 2015 over 70 national and diplomatic members of the charitable association created by the First Lady of Cameroon, Mrs Chantal Biya, undertook a sports walk of about two kilometres from the Rond-Point Bastos Junction to the Yaounde Parcours Vita. Accompanied by the rhythms of the National Institute of Youths and Sports (INJS) band, the women happily walked to the Parcours Vita sport complex to carry out some acrobatic movements of their bodies.

It all started in the early hours of that Saturday when the women assembled at the Bastos Rond-Point Junction and began by stretching out their bodies so as to relax their muscles. According to one of the Sports and Physical Education Instructors at Parcours Vita Yaounde, Franco Njuafac Azuancha, the exercise was meant to avoid surprises such as fractures. Shortly after, CERAC women, carrying the banner “Sports Walk, Health, Friendship, Solidarity and Sharing”, walked through the main road into the Parcours Vita Sports Complex. Franco Njuafac said it was an average walk as they took into consideration the ages of the women.

While at Parcours Vita, the sports instructor said they had to animate the day since the women were celebrating their 20th anniversary. As such, they were thrilled to some acrobatics for about 10 minutes during which the women in a sporting manner danced to some rhythms from the INJS band. Thereafter, the women had their bodies stretched again to bring the muscles back to normal. The sports event was a success not only to the women but also to their instructors who said there was no accident or trauma. After keeping the body system fit, as well as bringing the heart rate to a normal, CERAC women today, Monday December 14, continue celebration with a special church service and an open-door event to mark the 20th anniversary of their association. Celebrations are holding under the patronage of the First Lady with theme “20 Years of Sharing”.
