CJA Cameroon elections slated for October

The Commonwealth Journalism Association, Cameroon Branch, have set Saturday, October 29, as the day for the election of a new executive bureau to run the affairs of the Association.

The decision was made recently following an executive meeting that was held in Limbe and chaired by the incumbent President of the CJA-Cameroon who is now the Vice President of the Commonwealth Journalism Association in charge of Africa, HRH Chief Nkemayang Paul Nfoanyi.

The elections will be preceded by a General Assembly gathering on October 28. The event has been slated to take place in Buea.

It is worth recalling that CJA Cameroon was born on October 29, 2011, in Limbe where Chief Nkemayang, who is also the Publisher of The Star Newspaper, was elected pioneer President with is vice being Martin Fon Yembe. Prince Charles Endeley was later co-opted as Co-Vice President.

Meantime, CRTV’s John Mbah Akuro, was elected to man the Secretariat. Other prominent members of the 2011 executive are Charles Ndi Chia, Charles Wirsuiy and Boni Dashako as Advisers.

The July 5 meeting called on members who are still to complete the payment of their registration dues to endeavour to do so within the next 30 days, while those seeking to become members will have to submit their applications to the Secretary General via the association’s email for scrutiny and processing.

The President briefed the executive of his recent trip to London with the Secretary General, Akuro and George Ngwane, where they attended the CJA World Conference that culminated to their being elected to positions within the executive of this prestigious journalism outfit.

Modalities as to who qualifies to run for the October elections as well as other issues relating to the General Assembly shall be discussed in a subsequent meeting and made public, Nkemayang said. He expressed appreciation to all the exco members and members for all their efforts that have kept the association running since 2011 when it was created.
