On a 48 hours visit since Sunday in Cameroon, Claude Bartolone, president of the French National Assembly, was the host yesterday at the Unity Palace.
He was accompanied by Patricia Adam, President of the Defense Commission of the French National Assembly, Alain Marsaud, Member of the French abroad and Christine Robichon, Ambassador of France in Cameroon. The delegation was welcomed at the porch of the Palace by the Minister Secretary-General of the Presidency of the Republic, Ferdinand Ngoh Ngoh.
In an interview with the press, Claude Bartolone spoke of the, "friendly exchange" and the closeness of historical links between Cameroon and France.
He however recalled the sacrifice of Cameroonian fighters who participated in the liberation of France, during the two great wars (1914-1918 and 1939-1945). Ii is in the same vein, that the recent participation in France of the head of the Cameroonian State at the 70th anniversary of the landing of Provence is being done.
The president of the French National Assembly also spoke on the situation in the sub-region and Africa, including the terrorist outbreak, affirming the willingness of France "to stand by Cameroon". He said that his country remained tuned to any solicitation of Cameroon against terrorism that strikes at our borders, because in his opinion, "we need a collective response, to face terrorism".
At the end of the hearing, president Paul Biya elevated his host to the dignity of Grand Officer of the order of the value. An exchange of gifts concluded the meeting.
