CMR honours Denis Clerc-Renaud

The outgone General Manager of Perenco Cameroon was on September 30, 2014 honoured with a Knight of the Order of Valour medal.

Cameroon’s Head of State, President Paul Biya, honoured the outgone General Manager of Perenco Cameroon, Denis Clerc-Renaud, for his relentless services rendered to the country, today visible among others in the electricity generation from natural gas in Kribi.

The Minister of Mines, Industry and Technological Development, Emmauel Bonde, yesterday September 30 put on Denis Clerc-Renaud, a Knight of the Order of Valour medal. This was during a farewell ceremony in honour of the erstwhile Perenco Cameroon’s strong man at the head office of the National Hydrocarbons Corporation (NHC) in Yaounde.

Speaking during the ceremony, the Executive General Manager of NHC, Adolphe Moudiki, said, “with the assistance of Perenco, Cameroon recorded significant strides in the putting in place of its National Master Plan for the Development of Gas Resources and progressively marks its presence within the circles of gas producing countries.”

He added that under Denis Clerc-Renaud since May 2009 when he took control of Perenco Cameroon, important projects have been executed notably with regards to stepping up energy supply in Cameroon and the profitability of petroleum production in the Rio Del Rey basin.

The Executive General Manager of NHC cited among others the supply of gas to the Kribi thermal plant, which since February 25, 2013 that the supply went effective, has substantially improved energy supply in the country.

Another milestone of the outgone General Manager of Perenco Cameroon which was strongly lauded was his personal initiative to carry out tests on vehicles functioning on natural gas.

“These tests were successfully carried out at the Bipaga Gas Treatment Centre, thereby opening up new avenues for the sale of natural gas and the preservation of Cameroon’s environment,” NHC Executive General Manager said.

It also emerged from the farewell ceremony that Perenco had proposed and received an ok of NHC for the putting in place of a liquefied natural gas plant in Kribi.

The plant, which according to projections could produce 1.2 million tons of gas per year, Mr Moudiki said, gives room for anticipating the production of liquefied natural gas in Cameroon from 2017.

The project could also associate the production of liquefied petroleum gas whose capacity could reach 30,000 tons per year and bridge the current shortfall in national demand.

According to the visibly elated Denis Clerc-Renaud, “the five years in Cameroon were very positive for Perenco. With hard work with NHC and all the authorities, we have contributed to redevelop the oil and gas sector in Cameroon. We produce gas for electricity generation and we are very proud of that and I hope it will continue in the near future.”

The exchange of gifts between Adolphe Moudiki and Denis Clerc-Renaud as well as gifts to the spouse of the outgone Perenco Cameroon GM spiced the ceremony. Denis Clerc-Renaud goes to head Perenco Gabon meanwhile; Benoît de La Fouchardiére replaces him in Cameroon.
