"CMR offers 50,000 litres of fuel weekly to the Chadian army"

With the war against the Nigerian Islamic sect, Boko Haram dominating the international airwaves ever since the Republic of Chad joined the anti Boko Haram coalition, it has been revealed that the Cameroon public treasury is financing the war alone.

Since the debut of the Chadian army in the conflict, Cameroon offers 50,000 litres of fuel to the army of Idriss Deby on a weekly basis. This is very disturbing when we consider the fact that the Republic of Chad produces about 110,000 barrels of oil per day.

Added to this very worrying revelation is the issue of injured Chadian soldiers also being taken care of by the Cameroon taxpayer. As reported earlier on, there are 68 Chadian soldiers and hundreds of injured Cameroonian military servicemen who are hospitalized in Yaoundé and Maroua.

Cameroon Minister for Defence Edgar Mebo Ngo’o revealed recently that the wounded Chadian soldiers are supported by the Cameroonian government as stated in the agreements signed with Chad.

The clear consensus is that this is not a deal which finds favour with the Cameroonian people with all of the respondents having grave reservations about the future of the country.
