Members of the organising committee of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Conference met in Yaounde in view of the international conference scheduled for the 2nd -10th of October, 2014.
The meeting chaired by the Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly and Conference Coordinator, Hon Emilia Monjowa Lifaka, focused on ensuring smooth transportation and logistics, health, communications and security during the conference which Cameroon is organising for the first time.
Members of the Upper and Lower Houses of Parliament taking part at the meeting emphasised on measures to keep the Ebola fever out of the country.
The role of the Ministry of Public Health, WHO and the Organisation for the Coordination and control of Endemic Diseases in Africa in monitoring health posts at the borders and seaports was highlighted.
Hon Emilia Monjowa told the committee that government has made available Ebola control kits and 100 protective uniforms have been provided for medical staff.
