Cameroonian soldiers have complained of not receiving the balance payment from the African Union for nine months on the initiative of the peace-keeping operation in Central African Republic (Misca) of which the United Nations recently took over.
A total of 320 gendarmes were sent to the Central African Republic which was plagued with political, social and religious unrest. This resulted in a deadly civil war, after the coup of force of Michel Djotodia in March 2013.
Some of the soldiers therefore sent a memorandum to the Commander-in-Chief of the armed forces.
The discontentment came specifically from the gendarmes of Police Units Incorporated (UPC) n ° 1 and 2 respectively and arrived in August 2013 and December of the same year.
On a mission regarding peace in Central Africa, the Cameroonian gendarmes did not receive their salary from the African Union since December 2013 and January 2014, which amounted close to 200,000 CFA francs. The balance of the troops in operation, distributed by the African Union, was handed over to the Cameroonian authorities and redistributed to the military.
