Cameroon will take part in the 12th meeting of the Conference of the parties to the Convention on biological diversity, at the 7th meeting of the parties to the Protocol on Bio-safety and the first meeting concerning the Nagoya on Access Protocol and the sharing of benefits as provided for in Pyeongchang in South Korea from 6 to October 27.

This is therefore a schedule that looks tight for Cameroonian experts. Reason for which was held last Monday, a national meeting of consultation and preparation, as a prelude to these events.

For this purpose, the 'Biodiversity' focal point at the Ministry of environment, nature Protection and sustainable development (Minepded), Prudence Galega, presented the various topics that will be discussed.

Among other things, the integration of biodiversity into the agenda of sustainable development at the national and international levels (poverty eradication, development of finance...), the conservation of biodiversity and its restoration to reduce the risk of natural disasters, climate change etc.

The role of biodiversity in the creative economy (job creation, innovation) will also be on the menu. This straight line of three main objectives of the Convention on biological diversity, conservation of biological diversity, the sustainable use of its components and the fair and equitable sharing of the benefits arising from the use of genetic resources and their crucial importance for sustainable development.
