Issa Tchiroma Bakary, Minister of Communication, faced the press Wednesday, October 22, 2014 in Yaoundé, to launch the national campaign of awareness and information on the country's transition from analog television to digital terrestrial television (TNT) in June 2015.
"On 17 June 2015, Cameroon will have radio services that operate on bass released spectrum, access to personal mobile television or audiovisual media services, on demand.
"Experts of the Cameroon Digital Project (CAM-DTV) will be responsible for the management of the migration process which will take the form of presentations and public entertainment with all the identified targets including administrative authorities, religious and traditional leaders, local elected officials, civil society, law enforcement, NGOs and other associations, equipment manufacturers, suppliers, publishers, TV distributors and resellers, pupils and students, environmental professionals, The customs officials and regulatory standards and quality institutions.
"It is therefore essential to support all these people in the implementation of this transition in order to avoid any misunderstanding about the migration process and allow everyone to benefit from this new technology that is digital terrestrial television.
"On the question of the legal provisions that will regulate the sector, the Minister Issa Tchiroma said a team has been formed to establish rules for TNT.
"The advent of this innovative technology will increase the development of the audiovisual sector, optimizing the size of the advertising market, free television channels, a diverse delivery of content, improved operator revenues, the release of frequencies used by analogue channels", h said.
The campaign has now been launched hoping it will bring the desired results.
