Government has authorized the Cameroon Radio and Television to switch to digital media.

Six of the thirty channels to feature on the bouquet have been allocated to CRTV alone thus the corporation receives finances from government since it has the most experienced technicians in Cameroon’s media industry.


To facilitate the Switch, the Cameroon government has signed a 150 billion loan agreement with the World Bank.


It was therefore to acquaint journalists of the fundamental contribution expected from each of them. The management requested the capacity building session that took place in the newsroom this 14th July 2014.


Journalists were told that a number of different channels, some thematic shall be created within the corporation.

Accordingly, these changes shall not only increase the load of work quantitatively but also qualitatively.


The organizational plan specifies that the corporation shall also rely on private and international productions.


However, in a bid to sell the country’s image abroad and present the specificities of the country, only fifteen percent of productions from abroad shall be tolerated on each of the channels.


In the end, the message was loud and clear, the digital switch that puts the corporation on the forefront shall have need for committed, intelligent and diligent workers.
