CRTV’s Programme Content: Stakeholders conclude deliberations

A few hours to the end of the National Forum on programme content, workshops continued in earnest as media practitioners and producers conclude discussions on suggested programme content for CRTV’s six new TV channels.

The air is calm as debates continued in the eight constituted workshops on October 21, 2015, at the corridors of the Yaounde Sports Complex.

One of the participants at the workshop on the Education Channel and Chief of the Channel, Beau-Bernard Fonka Mutta, explained that the working sessions have been enriching though sometimes heated with debates from experts in the various fields.

He, however, emphasised that they all ensured that their focus remained on satisfying the audience and not the individuals propounding arguments. Beau-Bernard Fonka Mutta said expectations are high, as concrete and diverse proposals have been written to be channelled to competent authorities.

He also mentioned that most participants have expressed a strong spirit of nationalism by demanding the inclusion of more Cameroonian-made programmes. Another hall with serious debating going on is that hosting the third workshop, which is for the Sports and Entertainment Channel. During this morning’s session, sports reporters vibrantly argued in order for their proposals to go through.

The seventh workshop which is for Independent Producers was pretty serene as the producers brainstormed on what kind of programmes to be aired. During the eighth working session, the 'Means Workshop' had a panel of just a few persons with heads bent into many documents. In the midst of their silent reflection, one could easily hear a pin drop.

The other four workshops continue in tranquillity as participants did finishing touches and concluded deliberations so as to draw the curtains to the first-ever national forum on programme content, later in the day.
