The Civil Society Strengthening Programme Cameroon (PASC) recently presented to the public projects worth FCFA 66 million it is sponsoring on good governance.
The offer followed the first call of proposals organised by INADES-FORMATION, focal point of PASC in the Northwest Region.
The Regional Delegate of INADES-FORMATION Northwest, Emmanuel Sama Khan, whose office is the relay organisation for PASC, said the
objective of the meeting was to have a common understanding of the projects to be implemented by the civil society organizations.
The four civil society organisations include Mbororo Social and Cultural Development Association, MBOSCUDA, Community Assistance in
Development, COMAID, Youth Outreach Programme Cameroon, YOP, and Northwest Farmer’s Organisation, NOWEFOR. They will all bag FCFA 15 million, 13 million, 16 million and 17 millions, each.
While MBOSCUDA will concentrate on strengthening the collective voices of Mbororo pastoralists for the promotion of local governance in the management of pastoral resources, COMAID will seek to enhance civil society participation in Cameroon’s land ordinance reform.
Meanwhile, it is expected that YOP will strengthen the capacities of youth leaders to advocate for the implementation of youth policies.
NOWEFOR would be charge of empowering smallholder famers to better engage with local governance institutions to influence the implementation of public policies that affect their livelihood as spelt out in the specific and general objectives.
The total amount of projects funded in Cameroon stand at FCFA 550 million.
