Government has launched a call for the recruitment of consultants "for the technical support in the electricity sector in Cameroon". Inter alia its component is the creating of a manager of the network of public transmission of electricity (GRT).
This benefit, which will be funded on the window of IDA of the World Bank, must lead the call for expressions of interest the document stated. The rapid implementation of the new public operator of the transmission of electricity, will however support its functions on an incremental basis.
Its activities will involve, "as a first step, to develop infrastructure for the transmission network, then, following work separation and transfer of the assets of the current operator (Eneo) towards the TSO, the latter gradually regained the functions of the operation and maintenance of transmission, as well as the management of the flow of energy (function dispatching) currently under the responsibility of Eneo.
Offers from bidders to this benefit are expected (by mail, facsimile or electronic mail) at the Cameroonian Ministry of energy and water, in Yaoundé, February 13, 2015, at 1: 30pm.
According to experts, the creation of a public company dedicated to the transmission of electricity in Cameroon will allow them to effectively manage the transmission network, including the current state which caused significant losses which affect both the concessionaire of the public service of electricity (Eneo), as well as businesses and households.
