The national air carrier, Cameroon Airlines Corporation (Camair-Co), has announced the imminent acquisition of two new aircrafts to give its customers a broad range of choices. According to the corporation officials, government will first of all secure Boeing 777 this year, then Boeing 787 in 2015 to replace Cameroon's aircraft that was christened "Le Dja".
Speaking during a news briefing in its headquarters in Akwa, Douala, on July 5, 2013, Christian Perchat, Commercial Director, pointed out that "Le Dja" needs to be replaced because it has suffered some glitches which normally cost heavy amount of money to repair. "The aircraft is fit for effective use and up to the task for regular use unless that the malfunctioning suffered in the past were sometimes expensive to repair," Perchat disclosed.
As a result, the corporation will benefit the usual support of the Cameroon government which has begun negotiations for the acquisition of latest aircrafts from Boeing. Like any other technology, "Le Dja" would need regular overhauls and repairs having been on the ground for a long time without use following the demise of the former Cameroon Airlines (Camair).
Between July and September 2013, passengers travelling from Cameroon to Paris will benefit an exception price reduction to FCFA 451,200 for the Economic Class, while two people will have the exceptional offer of travelling at the price of one passenger. Fares for luggage of 28 kilogrammes will witness a drop. As an additional advantage for holidaymakers, fares for children have been cut down by 50 per cent, but if travelling as a family every two children will have to pay the flight ticket for one kid.
