President Paul Biya received the personal representative for Africa of the German Federal Chancellor, Günter Nooke at the Unity Palace on Thursday April 16, 2015.
Received in audience, by president Paul Biya, the personal representative for Africa of the German Federal Chancellor, Günter Nooke, was pleased that his host granted this privilege for the third time in four years. The first time being April 27, 2011, he accompanied a delegation of German investors with the head of State.
The second time was on May 22, 2013, when Günter Nooke met president Paul Biya on German businessmen's investment projects in Cameroon. These included the construction of a fertilizer plant.
Obviously, this project is soon to be realised since it was part of the items discussed during the hearing. With precision, it will be realized in Limbe, in the southwest region.
In the aftermath, the personal representative for Africa of the Chancellor announced the release of the sum of 16 million euros (10,495,312,000 CFA francs) for the strengthening of the health system in Cameroon by the German Government.
This investment will go to partly support refugees and displaced persons in our country. The assessment of Günter Nooke is that, "relations between his country and Cameroon "constantly widen and deepen". He added that the hearing was held in a "warm and open atmosphere".
Günter Nooke on behalf of the Chancellor, thanked president Paul Biya for the "stabilising" role he plays in the sub-region. The head of State expressed in return the same gratitude to Angela Merkel for bilateral cooperation and support in the fight against terrorism.
One remembers that president Paul Biya often cited Germany among friendly countries providing decisive support for Cameroon in the war against Boko Haram.
