A joint clearance operation by Cameroon and Nigeria forces along the border of the two countries has rescued more than 1 200 people held hostage by the Boko Haram.
More than 20 alleged Boko Haram terrorists have been killed during the exercise.
Three Boko Haram commanders were killed.
The operation cleared Nbaga, Bula, Dabube, Ybiri, Greya and Suduwa towns as well as other adjoining settlements.
Acting Director Army Public Relations, Co. Sani Kukasheka Usman, said the unprecedented clearance operation swept through over ten suspected Boko Haram terrorists hideouts.
He said the apprehended terrorists commanders include Lawal Abba, Mallam Hisna and Mallam Gana in Shatte, Bulla Jaja and Bula Burra towns.
“The troops also rescued 1 275 persons held hostage by the terrorists,” added Usman.
The152 Taskforce Battalion is screening and administering the rescued people pending onward movement to Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) camp.
“It is gratifying to note that the operation was a huge success as there was no casualty or injury on the troops,” said Usman.
