Cameroon and Switzerland agree on migration folder

Cameroon and Switzerland have agreed on the migration folder such that, holders of diplomatic passports or Cameroonian service will no longer need visa to go to Switzerland for a fixed term and vice versa.

Two important documents were thus signed by both governments. They were the abolition of visas for holders of diplomatic passports and service.

The Minister delegate to the Minister of External Relations for cooperation with the Islamic World (Mindelmi), Adoum Gargoum said, “This agreement enables and facilitates the entry and residence permit in the two countries. This is for the duration of their duties or missions without any need for a visa, holders of the tickets plus all mentioned."

The second agreement concerns cooperation on migration. Adoum Gargoum, reassured the scrutiny of the two countries on the fight against illegal immigration.

"For the Cameroonian Government, uneven emigrations, which have an effect on unemployed young people in a situation of despair. It is likely to make the countries of origin lose human resources that can contribute to its development", he said.

According to the Vice-President of the federal Council, these two agreements have also confirmed the will of both countries to continue their relations. She noted that Switzerland and Cameroon each have economic potential to develop and demonstrate.

The second stage of the journey of the Swiss federal Council Vice-President was at the Ministry of Justice. Here, she had a very long working session with the Minister of State, Minister of Justice and keeper of the seal, Laurent Esso.

Speaking at the end of the ceremony, Mrs Simonetta Sommaruga welcomed this development between Switzerland and Cameroon.

"These two agreements show that Cameroon and Switzerland want to have close cooperation in the field of migration. It is a challenge to all countries, but it is also a chance", she said.

The agreements were signed on Friday afternoon, hours after the arrival of Ms. Simonetta Sommaruga from Cameroon, Federal Councilor, Head of the Federal Department of Justice and Police, Vice-President of the federal Council in Switzerland.
