The European Union (EU) has cleared a FCFA 60 billion financial assistance package to Cameroon, primarily intended to manage three new projects for the welfare of vulnerable populations in the north of the country, facing terrorist threats from Boko Haram.

According to Françoise Collet, the EU’s ambassador to Cameroon, the focus would be on security issues which remain at the heart of concerns for Yaounde and its European partner nations.

EU intends to provide humanitarian assistance to partner countries invited to the security summit in Abuja later this week.

The organization already provides about FCFA 32 billion in funding to troops involved in the crusade against terrorism in Cameroon.
