Cameroon engages in a path of quality and economic development

The Norms and Quality Regulatory Agency, ANOR has announced the adoption and harmonization of about 952 new norms within the country.

The Director of Norms at ANOR, Nathalie Noah made the announcement recently during a press briefing in Yaounde.

Nathalie Noah said ANOR initially projected to adopt 700 but finally settled on 952 new norms.

The new adoption brings the total number of international norms existing in Cameroon to 1702.

The new norms are within the primary sectors, electricity, architecture, real estate construction, petroleum, food processing, normalization and documentation.

The Director of Norms notes that the increase in the number of norms is a step towards reinforcing government’s policy in the domains of quality and competition.

ANOR has indicated that competent officials shall be deployed to sensitize and accompany the different actors in the sectors in order to enforce an effective implementation of the prescribed norms.

The Director in charge of Certification, Jean Blaise Mani precised that the new norms will create an impact on development, economic growth, employment and poverty alleviation amongst other impacts.

It is worth indicating that Cameroon moved from 300 to1702 norms within four years.
