An investigation of the deleterious social climate prevailing in the mobile operator Viettel Cameroon has been initiated by the Minister of Employment and Vocational Training (MINEFOP).
Zacharie Perevet, gave the order following an influx of Vietnamese workers at Viettel since March this year after a license agreement was signed in 2012 announcing the creation of 6,300 direct jobs in the country.
Last week, in an interview with the government daily, Jules Kenmy, spokesman for Baba Ahmadou Danpulo, Chairman of the Board of Viettel and also CEO of Bestcam, the minority shareholder Viettel Cameroon had explained that out of 936 current employees, 396 are Vietnamese and another 400 have been announced.
Calling on the government to remind the general direction order, Jules Kemy stated: “The way out of crisis, which inevitably requires the assistance of the government, could bring us by limitation of the entrance of our Vietnamese partners on the national territory, and the education that these authorities could bring with these partners."
Exclusive owner of the 3G Viettel Cameroon went running into problems since it launched its installation process in Cameroon.
The launch of its services which was due in January 2014 had to be postponed to March 2014 for technical failures and then September to refine the network.
Meanwhile, a quarrel arose with shareholders, although it was quickly resolved.
Cameroonian consumers who hope to experience 3G, at the same time hope that the company did not announce a new delay in the launch activities for a new problem.
