Cameroon prepares to celebrate widows

In Yaounde 5 Subdivision of the Mfoundi Division in the Centre Region, widows have been engaged in educative talks, human investment and revenue generation activities since June 14, 2016, in build up to the D-day.

The widows, members of Mutuelle des Veuves et Orphelins du Cameroun were educated on their new role as father and mother and also exhorted to set the example for their children.

On June 20, 2016, the women received practical lessons on the arts of tie and dye and soap making.

Association Femme Emergente and the Subdivisional Delegate for Women Empowerment and the Family, Marie Gertrude Ouakam.

The arts, the widows indicated, will enable them make ends meet, added up to the petty businesses most of them are involved in.

The International Widows' Day is a day set aside by the United Nations to address the poverty and injustices faced by widows and their dependents.

Mutuelle des Veuves et Orphelins du Cameroun is amongst the many widows' associations in Cameroon already carrying out activities to commemorate the International Widows' Day.
