Yaoundé has decided to re-open its air and maritime space with Senegal as of 17th September. The measure follows the healing of the Ebola cases identified in this West Africa country.

"As of yesterday (September 17, 2014), the Cameroonian Government has decided to lift the measures for suspension of all travel by air, sea and land route to and from Senegal and Cameroon or in transit in Cameroon", reads a statement signed by Jean Koe Ntonga, Ambassador of Cameroon to the Senegal.

This decision is explained clearly by the announcement, made by the Senegalese authorities, after the healing of the Guinean young who had imported the Ebola virus into Senegal.

According to Jean Koe Ntonga, in addition to the Cameroonians residing in Senegal, "these measures concern the Senegalese people and nationals of other countries travelling to Cameroon for obtaining entry visas issued by the consular services of the Embassy.

As a reminder, the Cameroonian Government took on 14 August "a measure of prohibition of travel by air, sea, River and land to and from countries affected by the Ebola virus in Cameroon until further notice". Senegalese have been victims of this decision following the onset of the first case of virus in Dakar.
