Cameroon has ended its collaboration with the French company Thales, which came to Cameroon within the framework of a contract for the securing of Cameroonian nationality.

A letter from Thales Security System to employees affected by the said contract indicated that "as of December 31, 2014, general delegation on national security (Dgsn) has notified Thales of the decision of the State of Cameroon to not renew the Senac contract between the company and the State of Cameroon", noted the head of the projects Department, Bernard Brousse in a correspondence dated January 29, 2015.

The note indicated also that the cessation of activity of Thales in Cameroon will lead to "the end of employment contracts" concluded with this company. In other words, those who were employed in this project will lose their jobs.

Thales had arrived in Cameroon in 2012. The contract has been renewed each year on the basis of its performance. It was to help secure the Cameroonian nationality.

According to some sources of information, the non renewal of contract could result from high cost of benefits of French structure and the sensitive nature of this project for the national security.
