Means to boost bilateral ties in all fields were the focus of discussions held in Cameroon on Thursday between the visiting MPS and Counterparts in the Cameroonian National Assembly.

During the session held in the capital Yaoundé, the head of the Cameroonian-Kuwaiti parliamentary friendship group Kamssouloum Abba Kabir said Kuwait has contributed a lot to development in his country through investments, aid and charity.

Cameroon is reach in natural resources that can be exploited to bolster bilateral cooperation, in addition to the Republic's cultural and human diversity, Abba Kabir said, noting that his country wants to benefit from the soft loans and financial facilities Kuwait offers.

He referred to law issued in Cameroon in 2013 offering a multitude of facilities to foreign investors, saying that launching direct flights between the two countries will significantly contribute to promoting ties.

According to Abba Kabir tourism is a pillar of the Cameroonian economy, yet it has hard hit by terrorist attacks and the spread of Ebola.

For his part, head of Kuwaiti parliamentary friendship delegation Mp Saud Al-Heraiji said that his country always supports development in friendly countries.

Nigeria-based Kuwaiti non-resident ambassador to the Cameroon, Abdulaziz Al-Sharrah, pointed to the USD one billion His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Shabah vowed to offer to African countries in soft loans, during the 3rd Africa-Arab Summit held in Kuwait in 2013.

However, Cameroon has so far submitted no projects to benefit from these loans that mainly go to infrastructure and other development ones, Al-Sharrah said.

He said that he discussed the issue during a meeting with the Cameroonian Minister of Foreign Affairs. Al-Sharrah noted that Kuwait is already carrying out a host of projects in the country, including schools and roads.
