Cameroonian Public service salaries increased by 5%

Today the Head of State has announced a 5% increase to the salaries of civilian and military personnel of Cameroon as a result of a promise made by the government following the increase in fuel prices and domestic gas.

With this salary increase, reliable sources have said, the payroll of the state swells of 30 billion CFA francs more, and is now around 100 billion CFA francs per month.

Moreover, President Biya has also publicised the readjusting of parking fees and the axle and withholding of tax in accordance with the announcement made on 30 June by the Cameroonian government to halve the amount of each of these taxes.

With these reductions, we learn this is an effort of about 15 billion CFA francs by the state to accompany rising oil prices at the pump, in order to preserve the purchasing power of populations.
