Families of victims of the Eseka train incident have started receiving financial assistance from Camrail to enable them take care of the burial expenses of their loved ones.
Officials of the railway company say over 50 families have so far received the sum of 1.5million CFA each since the exercise kicked off.
Francoise Akondong father of a 34 year old victim - Colins Eponebok attested that he got information from the radio about the compensation of victims and decided to compile documents. He received a sum of 1.5millionFCFA to assist in the burial of his son. After the burial, he will also compile other documents for compensation.
At the Cameroon Railway Station Camrail office in Yaounde, a compensation unit has been created known as CAP 152 where both injured victims and relatives of the deceased will be compensated according to the degree of damages caused.
Injured victims are also required to start processing documents at the crisis unit so to claim their lost items.
