Camtel supports Sotel Chad fibre rollout

Cameroon Telecommunications (Camtel) and Telecommunications du Tchad (Sotel Chad) have signed a technical and cooperation agreement, Agence Ecofin reports.

The financial details of the deal were not disclosed. Camtel will support Sotel technicians' fibre rollout, based on the Cameroonian company's knowhow, having deployed an over 6,000 km fibre backbone.

Sotel's fibre network is only 750 km long at present. The agreement includes training and strengthening competencies, particularly in the area of FttH and setting up an appropriate pricing system.

Sotel will pay for Camtel experts' support. Camtel said it was currently connected to the SAT-3 and WACS undersea cables and hopes to sign with more very soon.
