The French ministry of foreign affairs sent some financial support to refugees from Central African Republic living in Cameroon.
The 250 thousand euros financial aid was channelled through the French Embassy in Yaoundé to the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent societies.
Accordingly, Cameroon Red Cross shall provide immediate assistance to the most vulnerable refugees and to the host populations in the East and Northern regions of Cameroon.
Approximately 79000 refugees from the Central African Republic are concentrated in Kenzou, Gbiti and Gaoura Bouli in the East Region while others have settled in the North and Far North regions of Cameroon.
The most urgent of the needs for the refugees include potable water, shelter, health services and psychosocial assistance to the refugees and the host populations.
The convention allocating the financial assistance was signed by the French Ambassador to Cameroon, Christine Robichong, the Central African Regional Representative of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, Denis Duffaut and the President of the Cameroon Red Cross, Willian Aurelien Eteki Mboumoua.
