For the first time ,the speaker of the national assembly, Cavaye Yeguie Djibril who is the third in command in state protocol has admitted that Boko Haram members are in high places in the Cameroonian society.

Though these type of accusations are not new in Cameroon, it is however shocking that Cavaye Yeguie Djibril made such open declarations in the opening speech of the plenary session of the nation assembly.

Hear him: "Boko Haram militants must be exposed at all costs and punished according to the laws of the republic. We know them very well. Many of them are amongst us;some in hiding and others in very active service, and in their hypocrisy do pretend to be supporting the state authorities to fight the sect; with the ulterior motive of destabilizing the state and setting it on fire."

The national assembly was taken aback by shock and consternation but the mysterious question has been who exactly the president of the national assembly was accusing.

Cavaye Yeguie Djibril who is also a traditional ruler in Mada,in Mayo Sava division of the Far North Region ,a locality that is highly touched by the activities of Boko Haram left no one in doubt that he knew exactly what he was talking about.

If Cavaye called for frank and sincere collaboration in the fight against Boko Haram ,his declaration rekindled the debate on the support Boko Haram has and the sincerity of the mobilization of all Cameroonians to combat the sect.

In a recent statement to the press ,the chairman of the main opposition party ,SDF,Ni John Fru Ndi raised concerns that Boko Haram will progressively get support from Cameroon and will gain grounds.

The chairman of the SDF expressed shock that out of the money that was given to be paid as ransom for the liberation of the kidnapped Moulin Fournier family ,only 10% of the amount actually went into the hands of Boko Haram militants.

But Cameroonians did not know that French satellites were monitoring the movement of this money. Confidential sources disclosed that part of this money found its way back to Yaounde.

Sources close to the Apostolic Nuncio to Cameroon, on behalf of the Maroua Mokolo diocese also disclosed that the kidnapping of the Moulin Fournier family as well as Father George Vandenbeusch made new millionaires within political circles in Cameroon.

Wangbi Fare, a journalist who has been investigating the matters notes that out of the six billion francs that was involved in the transaction, some of this French satellite monitored bank notes were found in the hands of a senior state functionary of extreme north extraction.

The same bank notes were said to be in wide circulation in petrol stations as well as bakeries in the Far North chief town of Maroua.

Abdouraman Halirou, expert in trans border issues and professor of History in the University of Ngaoundere has raised concerns that without the complicity of some members of the grassroots population, and without a well coordinated network of activities ,Boko Haram would not expanding its activities the way it is doing.

The declarations by Honourable Cavaye Yeguie Djibril only come to add to those of Nigerian president, Goodluck Jonathan who recently said “Boko Haram members are in the state apparatus, in parliament, judiciary, army and security services.”
