Celebration of international day of the rural woman launched

The Minister of Women Empowerment and the Family, Marie Therese Abena Ondoa has launched activities to mark the 19th edition of the international day of the rural woman.

The 2014 edition is celebrated under the theme: “Recognising the role of women in improving rural development.” It was launched in the Mbere Sub-division of the Adamawa region by Minister Marie Therese Abena.

During the occasion, she visited many affiliated structures of her ministry in the region. Among the many stops she made, the most remarkable was at the Adamawa Regional Delegation of Women Empowerment and Family where she held a working session with all the staff and stakeholders of her ministry.

This occasion was an opportunity for the Regional Delegate of Women and Family at Adamawa to reveal several difficulties they encounter at work, including inadequate infrastructure, equipments and trained staff.

The minister lauded the efforts of the Ngaoundere City Council which provided computer to the women’s empowerment centres used to train young girls.

Minister Marie Therese assured the 175 staff recruited under her ministry by the heavily indebted poor countries initiatives, whose employment statuses are still undefined, that the Prime Ministry and the Ministry of Public Service and Administrative Reforms for will take action.
