Charibes Appreciates God's Unfailing Love

At a time Christians remember the birth of their Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ, a gospel album was recently launched in Yaounde. Entitled 'My Opinion,' the nine-track audio Compact Disc is the handiwork of Besingi Charity B, known by artistic name, Charibes.

"The general theme of the album is the love of Christ which is unfailing and non-discriminatory. It is dedicated to orphans to whom I am appealling to look up to Jesus as their all and all," explained the Apostolic Church, Biyem-Assi, Yaounde deaconess who is also a Senior Discipline Mistress with Government Bilingual High School, Mendong in the same city.

The album, she stresses, is not to make money per se, but to appreciate God for what He has done in her life and through it, reach out to the public. Explaining what prompted her to release the CD, Charibes said she has been singing all her life, even composing and offering her songs to others to record. "But I decided not to continue composing without trying out my hands at singing," the Socio-linguistics PhD student of the University of Yaounde I pointed out.

'My Opinion' talks about Charibes knowing Jesus as her Lord and Saviour, her all and all; "not just a carpenter's son or a man who allegedly used magic to marvel crowds." The other songs are 'My God na helele' (My God is wonderful), 'Jesus ma liberté' (Jesus the source of my liberty), 'I must smile again' and 'Lingi' or liking in the Oroko language of South West Region.

The rest of the songs are 'Ngano ya obase' (that recalls faith-building Biblical stories), 'Love light' and 'Nothing is more than you.' 'Ngano ya obase' encourages believers to continue to look up to God like Daniel, Abraham, Sarah, Joseph and many other Biblical characters did in their moment of trial.

With about 50 songs ready for recording, Besingi Charity B. says she wants to take her time to ensure a proper distribution of 'My Opinion,' shoot its video later, before going for a second album.
