Diplomats of the two countries were received in separate audiences at MINEPAT Wednesday.

The Ambassador of China to Cameroon, His Excellency, Wei Wenhua, says his country is an important development partner of Cameroon.

The Chinese diplomat held discussions with the Minister of the Economy, Planning and Regional Development (MINEPAT), Emmanuel Nganou Djoumessi on April 29, 2015. Top on the agenda was the evaluation of economic support from China. By 2014 ending, China funded 21 projects in the energy, infrastructural and communication sectors to the tune of 3 million US Dollars (about FCFA 1.860 billion).

“I have never seen any African country that has such agreements with China to this level,” expressed Wei Wenhua, saying this was proof of the exemplary ties bonding China and Cameroon. He pledged sustained collaboration, while announcing that many projects were in the pipeline. Wei Wenhua and Emmanuel Nganou Djoumessi reviewed misunderstandings that could stand as stumbling blocks to cooperation between both countries in terms of development.

The second diplomat received by Emmanuel Nganou Djoumessi on Wednesday was the High Commissioner of Canada to Cameroon, His Excellency, René Cremonese.

His mission was to brief government on plans to focus on professional training in Cameroon. René Cremonese told the press after discussions with the Minister that the projects have been in gestation for some time and both parties were examining the steps to be followed for the implementation of the fruitful and life-changing projects.

Technical conversations are still in the pipeline for the project to see light of day. Canada is also prospecting on supporting the country’s airline industry.
