China supports the technical rehabilitation of CRTV

The Minister of Communication Issa Tchiroma Bakary signed Thursday in Yaounde a commercial contract with representatives of the company Startimes.

The commercial contract for the technical rehabilitation of CRTV was signed Thursday in Yaounde between the Ministry of Communication and the representatives of the Chinese company Star Software Technologies Co. LTD (Startimes).

The main purpose of this cooperation, as Issa Tchiroma Bakary pointed out, is to acquire the most modern system of sound broadcasting and digital television Africa for Cameroon. The technical rehabilitation of CRTV is required in more than one way: it will be called upon to play a central role in the process of setting up and operation of the Digital Terrestrial Television (DTT).

According to Amadou Vamoulke, general manager of CRTV, 'the digital switchover requires a refresher in all its components: production, distribution, transmission. The company is 30 years old, and therefore, refurbish all equipment." This repair task will return to the Chinese cable company Startimes, represented yesterday by Mr. Xun Gu, its Vice President.

For the Mincom, Crtv is the backbone of the migration from analogue to digital, because 'it will be responsible for multiplexing space', whereby all Cameroonian television channels are affected.

Amadou Vamoulke explains: "during this multiplexing operation, sounds and images that produce televisions will undergo treatment and can be decoded. In the flow of information, it will be possible to determine from such information. "In this way, technical support is provided to all Cameroonian television channels for the dissemination of digital programs, thanks to this infrastructure including the CRTV will load.

After the signing of the contract yesterday, it will be transmitted to the Ministry of economy, planning and regional development (Minepat) for the financing arrangements for the project, which will be completed by Exim Bank of China. "Once adopted funding, Minister delegate at the Presidency of the Republic responsible for public procurement will proceed to the signature of the contract, valued at 110 billion Fcfa», said Issa Tchiroma Bakary.
