Tiger Brands, the Motherhouse of the chocolate confectionery of Cameroon (Chococam), has decided to withdraw from supermarkets one of its varieties of rice known as the "Tastic Simply Delicious", after it was deemed carcinogenic to humans.

In an official communiqué October 16, 2014, to this effect, South African agri-food giant asked consumers who bought the products concerned between June and July 2014, to bring them to the shop, for reimbursement.

The Tastic mark rice has been marketed in Cameroon for about one year now. Despite a contact established by mail to the address of the company, we did not get information on the arrangements made by Chococam, for Cameroon to implement the decision taken by Tiger Brands.

"We apologize to our consumers and we want to reassure them that the problem raised concerned only that specified product brand, so they can continue to patronise other products of the same group", revealed the communiqué of 16th October, stating that the product will return once it has satisfied required standards.
