Church leaders to pray for Cameroon

Cameroon has been going through difficult times characterised by Boko Haram terrorist attacks in the Far North Region, incursions by Central African Republic rebels, hostage-taking, corruption, indiscipline, ritual crimes, the proliferation of satanic sects, external pressure for the legalisation of same-sex marriages, etc.

In the face of these challenges, Christian leaders have decided to organise a national day of prayer.

Dubbed "Christday," the event holds at the Yaounde Conference Centre on Saturday, July 9, 2016, from 8 am to 1 pm. It is meant for pastors, church leaders and officials of Christian organisations, with 1,000 participants expected to attend.

The gathering is organised by Campus Crusade for Christ, Cameroon and the Cameroon National Prayer Breakfast, in association with local churches.

The holding of "Christday" was announced at a press conference in Yaounde on July 6, 2016, by the Director of Campus Crusade for Christ, Evangelist Nsom Kennedy and Rev. Jean Libom Li Likeng, President of the Organising Committee and also President of the Cameroon National Prayer Breakfast.

Both men stressed the importance of the gathering, saying it was preceded by 40 days of fasting and praying for all of Cameroon's tribes. With theme, "The Church That Humbles Itself: The Only Way To Emergence," from II Chronicles 7:14, the prayer session is a moment for the takeoff of Cameroon's spiritual emergence, organisers said.

This, Evangelist Nsom and Rev.Li Likeng emphasised, was the only way for the country's emergence in all other aspects. Other expected dividends of "Christday" are spiritual revival, raising more intercessors, sanctification of the church, mutual respect for denominations, repentance and reduction in sin and crime.
