Cmr to account for denying Guineans entry into country

The Guinean Government could hold accountable the Cameroonian authorities after a delegation coming from Conakry was blocked at Douala international airport.

The head of the Guinean diplomacy, François Lounceny Fall, announced that measures were being taken to try to understand this incident which could cool relations between the two countries.

"We try to explain (to other countries) upon departure from Conakry, that Guineans are not carriers because they had been tested before their departure. Of course we know that Cameroon is bordered with Nigeria.

"And to arrive in Cameroon, travelers have had to go through other countries. But when there are such cases, I think that people should have to do tests.

"I heard this news, but we are trying to see exactly what happened in Yaoundé (Douala international airport). We are in contact with all the official services of Cameroon" said Minister François Louncény Fall

This reaction of the head of the Guinean diplomacy comes after a Guinean delegation consisting of five persons including two MPs was turned back in Douala where they had to attend the 4th Summer University for the governance in the extractive industries.

According to the Minister of State in charge of Foreign Affairs, since measures began to be taken in other countries, there is no evidence that a passenger from Guinea has brought the virus into another country.

"It has never been proven that a passenger taken initially in Conakry in an airplane has been tested positive in another country", he argues. This is due, according to François Fall, to the fact that all passengers departing from Conakry whatever their rank are subject to a medical test.
