Committee to head the rehabilitation of CRTV infrastructure

The Minister of Communication and Board Chair of the Cameroon Radio Television CRTV, Issa Bakary Tchiroma has installed members of the steering Committee in charge of the rehabilitation of the CRTV infrastructure.

Felix Zogo, Technical Advisor No. 1 at the Ministry of Communication was designated the president of the committee to be charged with the technical rehabilitation of the infrastructure of the CRTV.

He will work with executives from the Ministries of Economy, Posts and Telecommunications, CRTV, the Cameroon Telecommunications, CAMTEL and the Agency for Public Procurement Regulatory Board.

Installing them this Tuesday 27th January 2015,the Board Chair of the CRTV challenged committee members with a role to undertake a study of the economic viability of the technical infrastructure of Corporation; undertake and conduct negotiations with the Chinese Company in charge with rehabilitation works and prepare a draft amongst others.

Concerning the budget to carry out rehabilitation works, the Minister noted that money will be borrowed from Eximbank of China and therefore the committee has the task to study the ways and means to which this debt will be repaid before its maturity.

The Board Chair further challenged the new committee to be able to provide in 30 days the most appropriate methods for this operation that can help in the effective execution of the project, he insisted that at every stage the committee should state advantages and disadvantages.

It is worth noting that the Chinese Startimes Company recently signed an agreement with the Cameroon government to rehabilitate the CRTV building within a time interval of 24 months.
