Conac Urges Fraud-Free Elections

The National Anti Corruption Commission (CONAC) has schooled the population of the North West Region on how to combat and guard against corrupt practices during the upcoming twin election on September 30.

The sensitisation campaign that brought together political parties and other election stakeholders in the region was a rare moment for the population to ask questions on the role of CONAC during and after the election as well as the measures to be taken on those who will be caught in corrupt acts. The campaign on the theme "How to render the electoral process free from corruption" featured speakers like Prof. Emmanuel Yenshu, social political analyst amongst others who deliver papers.

During their various presentations, speakers called on the population to choose their representative by voting and ensure that their votes are protected. They equally called on the population to report any case of corruption. All the speakers agreed that corruption is slowing the development of Cameroon and as such, all must put hands on deck to eradicate the social canker worm. They equally concur that corruption during elections can lead to social unrest reasons why both the populations and election officials must be observant and ensure that all goes on according to election rule. They equally called on those who will lose to accept defeat and promote peace.

CONAC Communication Officer, Tche Irene Morikang explained that this is the first time they are fully involved in elections and as such, they want to do their best to ensure that legislative and municipal election this year is free from corruption.
