On Thursday, August 14, 2014, Abakar Ahamat, the Governor of the Adamawa region, was heard by investigators from Yaoundé who came to witness clearly the conflict against his three custom officials.
They came as a result of the letter written by the senior customs warrant officer, Hamadou Aminou,the head of the mobile brigade of Ngaoundéré, suspended two months ago.
After various sources close to the commission of inquiry came from Yaounde, Abakar Ahamat gave his version of the facts and the reasons for the suspension of three customs officials.
It appears from his hearing, according to a member of the commission of inquiry who requested anonymity, "that he (Governor) was attacked first by the customs officer Hamadou Aminou, who he had assigned to Banyo". The latter had refused to pick up service. The Governor, after his hearing gave the members of the commission of inquiry his memoirs of defence in this case.
According to sources, the Governor of Adamawa had requested the revocation of the public service of senior customs warrant officer Hamadou Aminou. According to him, Hamadou Aminou is a false customs officer which was never admitted to Enam and who usurped the title of senior customs adjutant.
A complaint was filed by the Governor of Adamawa at the police station against Hamadou Aminou. He is charged with false diplomas, spoofing of rank and of embezzling the sum of 2 billion cfa francs from the coffers of the Adamawa customs area. However, Hamadou Aminou has another version of the case. He admitted to have received daily threats from the Governor of Adamawa.
Hamadou Aminou was asked to present his diplomas from Enam, to justify his rank of Chief customs Warrant Officer of. "I do not know what I did to the Governor; he is desperately against my modest person for nothing. He asked the police to remove my work clothes, my tire and some of my personal documents.
I have interrogated and then released after 18 hours of custody, my house was searched by police without a warrant from the Prosecutor", he stated. It said to be him also determined to go to the end of his fight. "I want the law to state that this persecution against me should cease. I will go to the end of my fight because I refuse my honor be soiled by this gentleman," he concluded.
