20 months after the laying of the first stone, the construction of building for Marché Congo has restarted.

After marché Congo was ravaged by fire in July 2012, authorities have decided that this commercial area which used to be formally built with temporary materials be built this time with durable materials. The ceremony for the laying of the first stone had been organized and work was supposed to have commenced few days later, after funds were made available.

Unfortunately, a land problem arose leading to the halt of the work. A compromise has now been reached between the authorities of the city of Douala and the owner of the plot of land has planned. Resultantly the construction of the whole work was brought to a halt till the matter was settled.

And a few days ago, Fritz Ntonè Ntonè announced the resumption of work in marché Congo in Douala. An official of the Southwest international construction corporation, conducting the work stated that everything is ready except for the signing of the contracts with Cud.

After the presentation of document for the new market, it was noticed that the market would be made of about 1,304 shops with 12 storage spaces ranging between 18 and 35 m² in size.

It also provides for the construction of 24 administrative offices for Cud administrators, taxes, customs, police, and restaurants. Just like the development of 120 parking spaces, 200 toilets, installation of garbage.
