CAMGAZ has recently admitted importing substandard domestic gas cylinders, according to Cameroonian Consumers League (LCC) in a press release which says "despite the orders of the Government, they refused to exchange for consumers standardised cylinders".
Most households are cluttered with these substandard cylinders in their kitchens. With all the security risks it generates, the Legal Department of the LCC is "considering legal action against this anti civic society scam against consumers," said the statement signed by Delor Magellan Kamseu Kamgaing, President of the LCC.
The league said that for some years CAMGAZ were caught in the act of siphoning (decreasing normal quantity) of gas cylinders, at agency Mvan neighborhood of Yaounde, by agents of the Ministry of Commerce.
A situation that prompted the LCC to appeal for witnesses among consumers who have, or know someone who has a gas cylinder branded TRANSCOGAZ, BERROGAZ, and PIZOGAZ, SHELL GAS, that CAMGAZ admits importing.
LCC who still believe that "the consumer is king" urges all consumers to be friends now and vigilant in buying their gas. Always ensure that the brand (name) is of an authorized national distributor of gas and is engraved on the cylinder.
