The inter-ministerial committee in charge of managing donations to support Defence Forces and affected populations, met for its second session in Yaounde.

Cameroonians from all walks of life in a brilliant show of solidarity with the Defence Forces engaged in the fight against the terrorist group, Boko Haram, as well as affected populations in the Far North Region, have already contributed a sum of FCFA 2,100,000,000 as at yesterday, May 26, 2015.

More so, they are donating more non-perishable goods than before after having understood the challenges faced by the committee with the storage of perishable donations.

This was the core of the declaration made to the press yesterday, May 26, 2015, in Yaounde by the Minister of Territorial Administration and Decentralisation, René Emmanuel Sadi, at the end of the second session of the Ad-hoc Inter-ministerial Committee for the Management of Donations to Defence Forces and Populations in the fight against Boko Haram.

As President of the Committee, René Emmanuel Sadi equally reassured that in a week, the donations will be sent to the Far North Region where pressing needs have already been identified. The session also saw the establishment of a running budget that will enable the committee carry out planned operations.

Also participating in the two-hour in-camera session were the Minister Delegate at the Presidency in charge of Defence, Edgard Alain Mebe Ngo’o; the Minister of Finance , Alamine Ousmane Mey; the Delegate General for National Security, Martin Mbarga Nguele; the Secretary of State of Defence in charge of the National Gendarmerie, Jean Baptiste Bokam and the Governor of the Far North Region, Midjiyawa Bakari, amongst others.
