Cameroon's Prime Minister, Head of Government, Philemon Yang yesterday, September 12 had separate discussions with the Minister of State for Industry of Côte d'Ivoire, Moussa Dosso and the Gabonese Minister of Interior, Public Security, Immigration and Decentralisation, Jean François Ndongou.
Cote d'Ivoire's Minister of State for Industry, Moussa Dosso came for a courtesy visit to the Prime Minister. He is iTRn Cameroon to participate in the 50th anniversary celebration of the African Intellectual Property Organisation (OAPI). The visiting Minister of State used the audience to transmit the message of congratulation from Côte d'Ivoire's Head of State, Alassane Ouattara to his Cameroonian counterpart, President Paul Biya. He expressed the determination of his country that has witnessed crisis for over 10 years, to re-launch cooperation with other African countries, especially Cameroon that is a leader in the Central African Sub-region. Cameroon and Côte d'Ivoire, Moussa Dosso disclosed, envisage the creation of a Joint Commission that will set the framework for future cooperation.
Cooperation with Gabon
The Gabonese Minister of Interior, Public Security, Immigration and Decentralisation, Jean François Ndongou was the first official Prime Minister Yang received. He was the leader of the Gabonese delegation to the Cameroon -Gabon talks on consular and cross-border issues that held in Yaounde yesterday. Cameroon's Minister of External Relations, Pierre Moukoko Mbonjo who co-chaired the talks with his Gabonese delegation leader was also at the Prime Minister's Office for the audience.
Jean François Ndongou disclosed to the press after the in-camera discussions that the talks will enable the two countries better handle the free movement of people and goods across their common border, protect the environment and curb cross -border poaching. Considering that the two countries have converging views on cross-border security and consular issues, the Gabonese Minister hinted of the envisaged signing of cooperation instruments. Before discussing with the Prime Minister, the visiting Gabonese minister earlier had exchanges with the Ministers of Territorial Administration and Decentralisation, External Relations and Defence.
