Eco guards have managed to seize 180 ammunition, a motorcycle and large quantity of game on 20th October, 2014.

This significant seizure made on October 20 in Nki national park, on the side of the Borough of Ngoyla in Haut-Nyong, Eastern Department, was as a result of a raid by MINFOF eco guards. The raid saw the support of the police to successfully confiscate 34 weapons, 180 ammunition, a motorcycle and a huge quantity of bush meat from animals of the protection classes B and C.

These seizures were carried out from 14th to 18th October, during a large-scale poaching dubbed "Operation punch" conducted by the national control Brigade, the UTO Ngoyla-Dzodze, at the Nki National Park.

This operation benefited from the technical, financial and logistical support of the Global Fund for Nature (WWF), strategic partner of the Minfof.

The Operation was designed to combat illicit exploitation of wildlife and other forest products in the massif Ngoyla-Dzodze forest, Cameroonian segment of the landscape TRIDOM in Eastern and Southern Regions.

This operation saw the participation of elements of the National Gendarmerie and the police. The intervention of these different bodies took place at the time where elephant poaching has taken alarming dimension in the Nki National Park, the Reserve of the Biosphere of ADI and other areas protected from Southeast Cameroon.

The seizure of weapons, used as a means for the commission of wildlife offences, will provide medium and long term plan to save the life of the species that live in this forest. These weapons recovered will also go a long way to improve the safety of people and property.
