Recently, Minister of Defense, His Excellency Joseph Beti Assomo bestowed on behalf of the President of the Republic His Excellency Paul Biya, the Knight of the Order of Valor (Chevalier de l’Ordre de la Valeur) on departing U.S. Defense Attaché Commander John Scudi, U.S. Navy.
The Minister of Defense presided over the ceremony at the Ministry of Defense, where he said: “Following the decree No. 2016/035 of 25 January 2016, the President of the Republic and the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces decided to make Commander John Peter Scudi, Defense Attaché at the U.S. Embassy in Cameroon, Knight of the Order of Valor at the end of his stay in our country.”
The Minister said the honor was bestowed in recognition and appreciation of Commander Scudi’s actions in the area of U.S.-Cameroon defense relations. He also described our partnership as exemplary, rich, and fruitful, and said that our cooperation received a significant boost during Commander Scudi’s service in Cameroon.
The ceremony was also attended by U.S. Ambassador Michael S. Hoza, Deputy Chief of Mission Matthew D. Smith, U.S. Defense Attaché members, and senior Cameroonian military officials.
