Experts in the domain of broadcasting are meeting in Yaounde to propose the content of the first 30 national channels to be introduced with the advent of digital terrestrial broadcasting.

The two-day meeting which opened this 4th August 2015 at the Yaounde Conference Centre has brought together members of the Cameroon Digital Television Project, CAMDTP.

While opening the meeting, the President of CAMDTP, Secretary General at the Prime Minister’s Office, Louis Paul Motaze indicated that programmes must be attractive and competitive. He also reiterated the fact that the programmes must reflect Cameroon.

During the workshop, the professionals will draft a national manual for the production of heritage content programmes.

Participants will also discuss other key issues like the composition of the first made in Cameroon content and general conditions for eligibility.

With the first phase of this new system of broadcasting already operational in Yaounde and Douala, a bouquet of 12 free-to-air channels is available for those with the appropriate TV sets.

It is worth recalling that on 14th July 2015, Cameroon switched over from analogue to digital broadcasting, with Yaounde and Douala being the first towns to experience the mutation.
