The little community of Dikahe in the PK10 neighbourhood of Douala was full of joy on June 11, 2016, after receiving money and other gifts from Jean Marc Ngoss Mpodol, elite and National President of the “Parti de l’Esprit d’Avril 48.”

Through representatives such as Quarter Head and the President of the Dikahe Development Committee, the community received a donation of plastic chairs, wheelbarrows, rice, shovels, and rakes, as well as a cheque of FCFA 600,000 at a ceremony in Rond Point Colonel Ndi, Dikahe.

Ngoss Mpodol also offered two cows, which were slaughtered on the spot and distributed to every member of the Dikahe community.

Beside the money for setting up a fund to assist needy patients in the community, 15 pay phone or “callbox” workers received 100,000 each, while 10 motorcycles were offered to some youths.

During the handover, the “Parti de l’Esprit d’Avril 48” leader disclosed that he was particularly motivated to make the contributions because when he was ill and wretched, one of his neighbours in Dikahe (where he lived and is still living) assisted him financially. A medical practitioner helped settle his bill of FCFA 150,000 after getting treated.

The President of the Dikahe Development Committee, Mounde Amadou, said the gifts showed the politician’s great concern for them. “It is a real moment of joy for us and we pledge to use the donation judiciously. We have received instructions from him to hire out the plastic chairs for not more or less than FCFA 50 per chair, and use the profit for development purposes in the community. This we will gladly do,” he explained.
