Charles Booto at Ngon challenged the players in the sector during consultations yesterday in Yaounde.
"Barely two weeks I bought my gas it is already finished" complains Monique B. a housewife. Her interlocutor seems surprised, having suffered the same pangs of gas cylinders. Whatever the mark and the size, the conclusion is the same: gas cylinders are sold half full.
The domestic gas sector for some time has witnessed a real malaise both in the Organization of the sector and in the filling of cylinders. Motivated by the greed, crooked operators develop anger in the heart of the residential quarters, factories devoted to the siphoning of gas cylinders. This relative to the risk of explosion threat, added to the failure to meet the standards in the manufacture of gas cylinders.
Anxious about the restoration of order in the filling, the distribution and the norms, the State through the Ministry of Commerce and the Agency for standards and quality (Anor) decided to launch a campaign for the mandatory enforcement of normative requirements.
The beginnings of this administrative approach were materialized by consultation between Charles Booto aNgon, Director-general of the Anor and operators in the domestic gas sector. The meeting which took place during the awareness campaign gave participants an opportunity to assess the sector and examine the normative requirements as well as the institutional and legal framework.
"At the end of trade, we want each and every one to be impregnated with the minimum requirements of the norms and the institutional, legislative and regulatory framework governing the sector" said Charles Booto a Ngon.
In his introductory remarks, he also reminded the players in the sector, of the need to observe good practices of manufacture of gas cylinders and distribution contained in the standards in force in Cameroon. The punitive phase starts as early as next January.
