The initiative launched on Monday, July 11, 2016, inside the La Miséricorde health center in the district of Douala III, is from the Activa Foundation.

Since its inception in February 1990, the Catholic dispensary of Ndogpassi, more known as La Miséricorde health center, welcomed more than 35 000 patients in curative care but also 10,628 women attending antenatal clinics. Of these, only 10% manage to do an ultrasound examination.

In fairness, and in order to provide equal access to health care, the Activa Foundation has leapt by launching a campaign for the realization of a free obstetric ultrasound examination for every indigent pregnant woman in Douala reveals Le Messager newspaper of Tuesday, July 12, 2016.

According to Marie-Pierre Lowe, president of the foundation, the campaign deployed in Cameroon for the first time, will allow for a month “to perform ultrasound examinations on 1200 expected pregnant women in the context of this charitable operation “.

The costs of about 12 million CFA francs are fully supported by the foundation. Where there was a delivery of a symbolic check in the margins of the launch of this successful initiative in charge of the clinic, said the newspaper.

According to Dr. Ngate Jonas, deputy head of that center, “many pregnant women manage to pregnancy term without prenatal consultations and worse, without ultrasound examinations with all the risks it entails. This initiative therefore comes at the right time. ”

Created in December 2014, the group Activia Foundation gives more scope to societal actions of the group. Thus it financed in recent years, charitable and sporting works including the days of the heart, Mount Cameroon race, sensitization campaigns on women’s cancers, donations to orphanages and prisons
