Douala cargo accident death toll rises from 4 to 5

The death toll of Wednesday night cargo accident at the PK8 area in the Douala three municipality has risen to five.

The urban transport cargo vehicle which had over 20 persons on board lost control and landed inside the Kondi river near total cite des palmiers, leaving several dead and others wounded.

Bodies were retrieved from the river after the incident by fire fighters with the supervision of D.O for Wouri Paul Naseri Bea and Douala III mayor, Job Theophile.

The fifth body was dragged out of the river today. Eleven survivors were taken to Cite des Palmiers hospital while the search is still ongoing. The Kondi river which is just beside the road and very dangerous because there are no blocks on the sides of the river to stop a car, should it loose control like in the case of this cargo.
